Graduation basics
Graduation Party Rentals in Central Maine
Graduation open houses are some of my favorite parties to set up. People come and go all afternoon, grab a plate, hug the graduate, and head to the next party. You need cover for the food and cards, seats for the people who stay, and a setup that doesn’t blow the budget. We deliver graduation tents, tables, and chairs from Augusta and Waterville to Lewiston, Brunswick, and Skowhegan.

A graduation setup built for proud families and busy weekends.
Plan the open house
Graduation parties work best when guests can arrive, eat, visit, and move on easily.
You need a clear food line, a covered spot for cards, and enough seats for the people who stay awhile. You do not need a chair for every invitation.

Protect food and cards
Use quick coverage where rain or direct sun would create the biggest problem: food, gifts, cards, drinks, or the graduation display.

Seat the guests who linger
Prioritize grandparents, family meals, and conversation instead of over ordering for the full invite list.

Keep graduation weekend doable
Plan delivery, setup, food tables, music, games, and pickup before the busiest weekend on the family calendar.
Graduation basics
A backyard setup that works for graduates, family, friends, and food
- Tent bundles for smaller college gatherings, larger high school open houses, and family heavy backyard parties.
- Pop up canopies over food, gifts, cards, drinks, dessert tables, photo boards, and yearbook displays.
- 6ft and 8ft banquet tables for buffet lines, drinks, gifts, graduation photos, memory tables, and supplies.
- Speakers and games for parties that run longer, especially when friends stay late or the family wants music outside.
- Weeknight setup before the party at no extra charge, so the tent is up and ready before graduation weekend gets crazy.
- Just need tables and chairs? Pick them up in Winthrop and skip the delivery fee.
Keep graduation weekend manageable
Graduation weekends get busy fast, for you and for us. Tell me your guest count and I’ll tell you what you actually need, so you are not paying for chairs nobody sits in.
Trash cans, food tables, and a protected gift/card table are easy to forget, but they make the party run much smoother.
Graduation setups
Common ways families build the party
10×20 pop up tent over food and gifts with 6ft or 8ft banquet tables for a simple backyard open house.
32 guest 20×20 high peak bundle with resin chairs for a smaller college graduation party or polished family gathering.
48 or 64 guest pole tent bundle with plastic chairs for high school parties, bigger families, and guests coming in waves.
JBL speaker, cornhole boards, food tables, dessert table, and card/gift table for parties that keep going after dinner.
Graduation tent sizes
What size graduation tent do you need?
Open houses are come and go, so most families seat about half the invite list at the busiest point. Use this as a starting point and I’ll fine tune it with you.
| Invited guests | Seats at the busiest point | Setup that works |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 40 | About 20 | 10×20 pop up canopy over the food, plus tables and chairs |
| 50 to 75 | About 32 | 32 guest 20×20 high peak bundle |
| 75 to 100 | About 48 | 48 guest 20×30 pole tent bundle |
| 100 to 150 | About 64 | 64 guest 20×40 pole tent bundle |
| 150 or more | 96 or more | 30×40 pole tent or bigger. Call me and we’ll plan it. |
When to book a graduation tent
Most Maine high schools graduate late May through mid June, and every family wants the same few weekends. Book in March or April. Once a tent is reserved for your date, it is gone.
Do not forget these
- A covered card and gift table
- Separate tables for food, desserts, and drinks
- Trash cans and a cooler
- Something to do, like cornhole or Connect Four

Questions
Graduation rental questions
Do we need seating for every invited guest?
Usually no. For high school and college open houses, people come and go, so we estimate seating based on the busiest part of the party.
Is a pop up tent enough?
It can be if you only want food or gifts covered. Larger tents are better when guests need shaded seating too.
What bundle works for a graduation party?
Smaller parties may fit a 32 guest high peak bundle. Bigger open houses often start with a 48 or 64 guest pole tent bundle with plastic chairs.
Can we pick up the tables and chairs ourselves?
Yes. Tables and chairs can be picked up in Winthrop by appointment with no delivery fee and no minimum. Build a pickup package and I’ll tell you what vehicle it fits in.
Can you set up the day before the party?
Yes, and I recommend it. We never charge extra for early delivery or a later pickup, and a weeknight setup means your tent is up before the weekend rush.
What tables should we plan for?
Food, desserts, drinks, gifts/cards, and photos usually each need their own space.
Do graduation weekends book quickly?
Yes. Many families need the same weekends, so reserve once your date is set.
Should we add music or games?
A JBL speaker and cornhole boards are easy add ons if guests will hang around, eat, and spend time outside.
